Adele Chatfield-Taylor, president, American Academy in Rome
Since 1999, Adele Chatfield-Taylor has been President of the American Academy in Rome, where she has distinguished herself in that role, and has further established the Academy as one of the world’s foremost cultural institutions. It is a much sought-after place for artists of all types to research, reflect and develop new work. Its prestigious Rome Prize Fellowships are awarded in a wide range of artistic disciplines.
Agnes Gund, president emerita, Museum of Modern Art
Aggie Gund is President Emerita of The Museum of Modern Art and Chairman of its International Council following more than 25 years serving on the board, including her role as President from 1991 until 2002. She is currently Chairman of the Mayor’s Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission of New York City, and Trustee of Studio in a School Association, a wonderful organization that she founded.
Mira Nair, filmmaker
Film director Mira Nair’s documentaries paved the way for her Academy-award nominated feature, Salaam Bombay! Her subsequent films include Mississippi Masa, Monsoon Wedding, and the critically acclaimed 2007 film, The Namesake.
Nigel Redden, director, Lincoln Center Festival
Nigel Redden is the Director of the Lincoln Center Festival in New York City as well as the General Director of the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. During his tenure at these festivals, Nigel has brought some of the world’s foremost musical, dance and theater artists to large audiences, along with multiple styles of music and theater from the far corners of the world.
Catharine Stimpson, dean, Graduate School of Arts & Science, New York University
Catherine Stimpson is University Professor and Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at New York University. She served as Director of the Fellows Program at the MacArthur Foundation, was the first Director of the women’s Center at Barnard, and served as chairperson of the New York State council for the Humanities, President of the Modern Language Association, and has written and edited numerous books and essays.
